This magnificent safari will take you to Rwanda to share the love of gorillas with that of chimps, track the mountain gorillas in the volcanoes national park and then the chimps in Nyungwe forest national park in the southwestern part of Rwanda a home for over thirteen species of primates.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer
Upon your arrival at the Kanombe international airport, you will be met and greeted by our company tour guide/driver who will pick you and then transfer you to your booked accommodation at Kigali Serena Hotel /Chez Lando/ Des Mille Collines
Day 2: City tour and transfer to Ruhengeri (volcanoes national park)
The day will kick off with a hearty breakfast at the lodge and then after you will embark on a Kigali city tour and visit important site like the Kigali genocide memorial site in Gisozi, visit the national museum, visit cultural sites and market places,. After lunch, you will set off to the north western corner of the Rwanda and finally to volcanoes national park a home to endangered mountain gorillas. The drive will take about 2-3 hours with a picturesque drive throughout. Arrive in the evening for leisure at the lodge as you’re waiting for tomorrow’s fascinating activity gorilla tracking. Dinner and an overnight at Sabyinya Silverback Lodge, Gorilla Nest Lodge/ Le Bombou Lodge/ Kinigi Guest House.
Day 3: Gorilla tracking in volcanoes national park
Early morning breakfast before you set off to the park headquarters for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts while with gorillas and also gets you assigned to the gorilla group to trek. After the briefing you will follow the ranger guide deep into the rain tropical forest to begin the activity possibly the most done activity at the park. Trekking the gorillas in this light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a supernatural experience no one would love to miss. The walks might be arduous so some physical fitness is needed an encounter of a family of gorillas is rewarding spend an hour with them and be back at the base in time for late lunch. Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Nyungwe forest national park in the southwestern part of Rwanda a home to over 13 species of primates coupled with chimpanzee the man’s close relatives sharing almost 98% of human genes. You will have a stopover in Butare town, visit interesting places like the Murambi genocide memorial site, and visit the Kings palace at Nyanza, Butare Museum, among others. Have lunch enroute and then after continue with a scenic drive up to the park, check into your booked accommodation for an overnight. Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking
Morning breakfast is followed by a transfer to the park headquarters at 8: 00 am to receive briefings about chimpanzee tracking. After follow the ranger guide to the forest to begin the search of our close relatives who shares almost 98% of human genes. Chimps are magnificent fan to watch especially when they jump from tree to tree. The time spent searching for our relatives is unpredictable however it can go from 1-6 hours while searching for them as meeting them depends on where they spent their last night from, a reasonable degree of fitness is highly needed, ounce they are met you will forget all the difficulties you’ve passed through and you use the one hour you are allowed to stay with them. Other species of primates can be seen in the process of tracking chimps like the owl-faced monkey, black and white colobus monkeys, baboons, more than 300 Colobus monkeys, mona monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys the list is endless. Day 6: Departure
After a hearty breakfast, you will be driven back to Kigali and if you missed the first city tour, you go for a city tour and later proceed to Kigali international airport to meet your departure flight back home,
